Basic Technical Meter Training
Introduction
The objective of this basic training is to:
- Ensure safe interaction with equipment for personnel not trained or certified to work on electrical circuits. This means that none of the training will involve working on electrical circuits. The interaction is limited to visual inspection and removal of the terminal cover and/or DB panel to allow for the visual inspection to be carried out.
- Provide sufficient information to the technician to identify and diagnose, and in certain circumstances replace equipment (modems/loggers).
- Provide detailed information regarding electricity meter bypasses and/or tampering of such equipment. The information will be captured using a Jobbing/Works Order solution so that the completed WO will provide sufficient detail for the client to understand the meter status and to apply their own set of actions to the offending party, as well as, providing information to the qualified technician to correct the bypass.
- To determine the success of the training the candidate will write a test and will be accompanied with a technician with the necessary skills, having, as a minimum, passed the Basic Technical Training, to observe, rate and determine if the candidate has the necessary field skills to perform the tasks set out in the Basic Training Course.
